In recent years, the rapid development of panel display technology and digital technology has caused tremendous changes in the pattern of the color TV industry, and the development process has gradually accelerated. At the same time, the innovation of color TV screens has not stopped. From the early LC to OLED, the display technology is becoming more and more mature.
Speaking of screens, everyone knows a current trend that Mini LED may replace OLED. Many people are puzzled that OLED, as the most commonly used screen material on the market, has the characteristics of self-luminous display, light and thin, bright color display, high contrast, and fast response speed. What are the advantages of Mini LED? Today I will talk to you about the advantages of Mini LED instead of OLED.
On the one hand, compared to OLED, Mini LED screen display has higher contrast, and the brightness parameters have also been greatly improved. At the same time, it has better resolution and precise light control, which can reduce the appearance of light leakage. This is mainly due to the small size of Mini LED lamp beads, which is also one of the most obvious advantages of Mini LED. Smaller size means more lamp beads can be accommodated in the same backlight source, which increases the number of partitioned backlights. The greater the number of partitioned backlights, the higher the light control accuracy and the higher the achievable contrast.
On the other hand, in practical applications, Mini LEDs have a longer lifespan. This is mainly because the operating temperature range of Mini LEDs is between -40°C and 100°C, compared to OLED's -30°C-85°C. , The operating temperature range is larger; at the same time, the driving IC and the LED chip are on the same side, and the heat dissipation capacity is also improved. In this way, compared with OLED, Mini LED is more temperature resistant and has a longer screen life.
It is precisely because Mini LED has the advantages of higher display brightness and longer life. In addition to TCL and Huawei, many large color TV manufacturers such as Skyworth, Hisense, Konka, etc. have also launched TV products using Mini LED, and have achieved Excellent results.
According to a report released by the research institute Omdia in August, global Mini LED TV shipments will reach 4.9 million units annually, which is nearly 10 times that of 500,000 last year. Its shipments will also account for the total TV shipments. It is expected to expand from 0.02% last year to 2.2%. In addition, Omdia also predicts that Mini LED TV shipments will reach 2 million units in 2021; by 2025, Mini LED backlight TV shipments will reach 25 million units, accounting for 10% of the entire TV market. This is undoubtedly good news for the color TV industry in its downturn.
